Default TV cable Problems/ Shift Cable Problems AOD

Well lets start out by saying that I just bought this 1990 mustang GT Conv. With a 5.0L V8 HO from this guy for real cheap because the transmission was blown out and what not. So I just got around to pulling out the old transmission and installing the new rebuilt transmission that I just had done up. I'm having two problems right now.
1- The TV cable from the transmission to the throttle won't reach from the AOD transmission to the throttle which is on the opposite of the transmission over by the intake, and when I uninstalled it i found out that it wasn't connected in the first place so i dont know for sure if It is the wrong cable or what not but it fits perfect onto the transmission but the cable wont reach to the throttle and Ive been looking all over the internet for the past 3 days trying to figure out this problem, maybe its an easy fix?? and Im not able to find any replacement cables or maybe ones that are longer??...

2- my second problem the the shift cable, ok the shift cable is supposed to hook up the the lever on the transmission to let it shift from p-r-n-d-dd-d1 well I have it hooked up (without the factory retaining clip) because the hole on the lever is to small to get the factory retaining clip onto the shifting lever connected to the transmission. So I have it hooked up with a Bolt a locking washer and nut hoping that it will be an quick fix for now till i can go somewhere and get a correct retaining bolt that will fit. Now with the problem, When I want to shift from park to reverse with the lever in park and the shifter in park, I can shift the Shift **** to reverse but the lever on the transmission doesn't move at all, But when I want to move it to drive it moves a few ticks... But the shift **** has to be forced to go to drive because of the tension in the cable.... mind you I have this car on jack stands and trying to get this to line up correctly before I take the car down and test it out. Am I doing something wrong?....

If pictures are needed I will post them asap

I would really appreciate any input because I have gotten nothing from any other forum yet.

Thanks a lot

first question is this... are you sure an aod came out and and an aod went back in ???
i know this might sound stupid, but some other trannies look like aod's

here is a pic of where you adjust the tension for the tv line pressure, more spring tension = harder shifts, but you really need to measure the line pressure or you can toast a new aod quickly. i know cuz i did it to 3 of them b4 i gave up on aod's

my only other question and maybe you were mistaken on the description, is the shift pattern.

upshifting from 1st gear is 1-d-od-n-r-p

2 and 3 are in the d position together, thats why people do the 1-d-1 shuffle and smoke the trans

anyways... fill us un and maybe we can help more.
