Bell housing removal
Whats up guys ? I havent been on in a LONG time. Good to be back! Kindof.... I hydrolocked my motor last week when it flooded really bad in Houston... Dropped the motor and tranny today, all went good. But how in the world does the bell housing come off the block ? Prolly a stupid question, but damn, i cant get that thing off, and my haynes manual doesnt say anything about it... I appreciate all the input. Thanks.

I assume the trans is off the bellhousing?
There are dowel pins that may have rusted real bad with the flood. Try the gentle touch of a prybar and hammerto see if you can start the seperation process.
Pics may help as well.

the starter needs to be taken out (2 bolts holding that on). the splash shield has a few screws that need to be taken out (Fairly small, i think 4 of them). then the bell housiing has 6 screws. 2 longer ones at the top and 4 more going around the sides to the bottom. usually easier to have the clutch fork out if its still in also.

Unbolt the starter. Take out the 6 bell housing bolts and if it doesnt fall off smack it with a rubber hammer or a plastic dead blow hammer. If you don't have either one of those hold a small block of wood against it and hit it with a Big hammer. Just double check that all the bolts are out. We all miss one from time to time when you do it everyday

I got it off. It was seized up on there pretty good,i just hit it a few good times, and pried around it, then was able to pull it off by hand. Just spend an hour or so takin off the lower intake and heads... There was a lot of water, i'm suprised it stayed running as long as it did. I got about a gallon out of the exhaust, and there was even more on top of some of the piston... Cant wait to drop the pan and see how that looks... Thanks for all the input.
