TPS Adjusting? Voltage how?

TPS Adjusting? Voltage how?
Ok, so here what i understand to set the tps.. Still searching for a bad idle roll. I got a new tps from a friend to try, this ones adjustable, old one had no movement or play.
This is what i think i need to do?
I start the car, disconect the iac, then rotate the tps until i get a reading of .9 volts?
How in the world do i test the voltage on this thing? I tried today and couldnt even find a away to shimmy a wire inbetween the two connectors, it was a mess.
Help?
