67mustang302,

What should i do to get it cooler? Would putting some heat insulator on some of the lines do any good? How about shielding in front of the headers and in front of the exhaust cat and pipes that is right beside the clutch fork so it doesnt get really hot. What kind of meterial should I use?

rydinturbo,

Jeez, I hope my engine doesnt blow a head gasket. Now you got me worried. Your's sounds like the same exact thing I have going on. So you just dealt with it and didnt do anything to cool it off?

Guys, Does anybody know what the timing should be? I am going to AutoZone and I will rent a timing light. Since i got everything all set with the coolent system, this sounds like a good place to continue.

Airflow through the engine compartment is the best way to cool it.

Really I think you are worrying about nothing. If you took under the hood temperature readings of under 200 while idling. You are good to go. With the coolant temperature running at the thermostat's temperture, I'd give it a passing grade.

For what it's worth. I've also seen some cars not pressurize their cooling systems with 160 thermostats. It may not be hot enough to build pressure. Why do you run such a cold thermostat anyways?

Yeah, It very well could be nothing. I just want to make sure. The clutch cable melting isnt a good thing, I will have to try to shield it somehow. Also, during this whole thing, I found that my t stat wasnt opening up all the way so it all wasnt for nothing.

I have a 180 degree t stat in.

I am going to check the timing on wednesday to see where I am. Now Im worried about the speedo cable, its closer to the headers than the clutch cable is. I'll bet it'll burn up soon.
