how to install new lifters the right way
I just got my new Hydralic lifters and push rods for my car today, and am going to install them here in the next few days. I put the lifters in a can and put light weight oil in it to soak them until I install them. Now can someone tell me the correct way to install these, I have been told to just tighten the rockers down on to them with no lash gap, and I have also been told I have to set valve lash, so I am confused. I know someone here can help me out.

You are correct, you soak them in light weight oil and just put them in along with the pushrods, did you get new rockers or are you just doing the pushrods and lifters for the hell of it?

no, my #7 rod got bent due to a loose rocker, so I am installing new rods and lifters. a buddy of mine swears that you don't set any lash on hydralic lifters, but my dad says you have to, I want to know what is the right way. I have stock e7 heads

Set the rockers prior to star-up by just cranking the nut down untill their is no play and you can turn the push rod nicely. Then when you are ready to start the engine, fire it up and let it warm up to operating temps (leave the valve covers off). When the oil is warm start to adjust the rockers one-by-one. Turn the nut on the rocker out untill you slightly hear the rocker ticking, then turn it in till it's quiet, then give it an extra 1/4 - 1/2 of a turn. After you are done doing one rocker flick the throttle and make sure it doesn't miss or stumble. If it misses or stumbles you have the rocker too tight and back it off a bit. If it revs up nice go to the next one.
P.S. don't rev the engine to much without the valve covers off cause it will make a mess.
