Default Automatic transmission swap

So I might be doing a automatic swap into my stock mustang. Whats the best tranny to get? Im curious about the c4 it should fit on my 87 5.0 right? How week of a unit is a AOD if you get a decently built one? And if I do go this route I will be putting a shift kit on anyone have pics of how they are placed on their car?

I know I might get flammed for wanting to do this, but when you cant even drive a 5 speed due to knee problems, its sort of a no brainer.

My two cents says the AOD is the way to go. I would want the overdrive!
if it is mostly stock, a quality rebuild with a good shift-kit would be fine with a good aftermarket 2-2500 lockup converter.

Well I dug in a bit more, its not worth the money for the swap. So I said screw the knee it can take a little pain. You need to get flyweel, then machine your driveshaft, and i think crossmembers are interchangable. Get a c4... But buy a car with all it done. Or get a better 5 speed.

just to stop some of the cancer thats floating in this thread.. i'll comment even though 300f150 decided to keep the t5

1) AOD = junk (don't even rebuild it, just buy a lentech)
2) c6 is major overkill (and heavy too)
3) stall speed lower than 3000 is like stock and not worth it
4) t5 will hold up all day long to 11 sec car
5) going to a stock AOD from a t5 will add almost 1 full second to your ET

the misconceptions are when people people abuse their cars. and no drag racing is NOT abusing it

you should break an axle b4 the trans, and as long as your not trying to launch at 5k on full slicks, it'll hold

the rest is all gearing, thats why aod cars are so slow
