Changing Oil Pump
#2
Not sure if it'll work for you, but it does on mine.. and I have a hoist to use... but, anyhow.
Game plan: drop steering rack, drop oil pan, get messy.
Jack the car way up on all 4 corners high enough so that yo have plenty of working room. You'll have to undo two hydraulic lines on the drivers side which are connected to the rack, then you'll have to unbolt the steering shaft. Afterwards, you'll see two nuts holding in the steering rack which you'll have to unbolt, and then you'll have to pri the rack off the bushings (which the bolts run through). Drop the rack bellow the k member. This should give you about 4"s between the member and the oil pan. Drop the pan and pull it out the back if you can, if not, lean it forward and it should give you plenty of room to get to the oil pump. Don't forget to clean off your old gaskets on the block, oil pickup, and oil pan. You'll need new gaskets and rear/front oil pan seals, and I'd recommend plenty of "the right stuff" (gasket maker) in the corners.
I'm not telling you to do this or saying that this is the right way, not taking any responsibility just throwing it out there for ya. Good luck!

drop the k member.i just did mine a few months ago and it was really easy.the only things you have to undo are the lower strut bolts, calipers, springs, and undo the steering rag joint, and then the k member.you can leave the rack and pinion on the k member and you dont have to unhook any lines.then you just need to drop the oil pan.

I got the pump out and the pump drive shaft was bent in half. All I did was take motor mounts and tranny mounts loose and jack the motor up and place wood blocks under the motor mounts. Wasn't too bad at all.
