Default Help. Removing Door Handles?

Hey guys. I am putting new door latches on my 1990 Mustang, but I am having trouble getting the original rivets out of the old handles so I can replace them. Any suggestions as to remove these rivets would be aweome. I've been trying with a small punch and soon a drill. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I'm doing mine tonight on my 89 gt vert, what you do is grind the head of the rivit off or drill it off then use a punch to tap it through, I'm using a dremel tonight on mine as my vert is at my house and not my shop so I have no compressor for my die grinder at home or I'd use that

I just drilled out the rivets and punched them out with a punch. Did your new handles come with rivets? I installed my new ones with nuts and bolts because I didn't have a heavy duty rivet gun.

done!!! 35-40 min job but then again I already had door panels off.......tape up around handle real well so if any tool slips it won't knick the paint, i USED A DREMEL TO GRIND out the rivits, that's what took the longest as I didn't have a course grinding bit
