Default Mini Starter Problem!

I recently installed a mini starter on my 90. I was told to hook the one wire to the solenoid and then hook the other post to a jumper wire to the tab on the starter. Now I'm being told this is incorrect and the shaft stays on the flywheel for a about 10 seconds after starting. What is the correct hook up?

Thanks!

Its somewhat right. You have to move the main power wire that goes to the starter to the other side of the solenoid (same side the battery power wire runs to) and run a 14 gauge wire from the other post down to the starter. (That is what the pics show).

What I did, MJR showed me, is kept the wiring on the solenoid the same as stock and just made a jumper wire that connects the the 2 small posts that are on the starter. It does the same thing as the above if you think about it. But I have the starter run on for like 3 seconds on my 83. I havn't really messed with it to figure out why. You could try to add a new solenoid.

Yea I currently have it jumped but I was told by running it to the solenoid it wouldnt stick on anymore but sounds like your still having the issue. My solenoid is pretty much filled on the power side I couldnt get another plug on it if my life depended on it.

I hear what your saying. After I get back from Iraq I am putting my 93 together and will see what I need to stop the run on. PM MJR and see what he says.

Probably one of the best diagrams I've seen on how a mini started is wired from the starter to the solenoid.
