Default question about ohsoquik's battery relocation sticky

didnt want to post on the sticky for something that may not be usefull for others or has the potential to be wrong. im a visual person not a "read and understand" type of person. i tried to make a picture showing what he was saying. overlook the bad drawing, im not very good at it. anyway, is this what he was saying? that way i know i understood and can do it without messing anything up.

looks good man. but its not 4/0 its 4 guage.

your blue wire is the crank signal wire. it splicesand extends into the red/blue wire on the S terminal

i used 4 gauge from the solenoid to the switch then to the front solenoid. but you can use 8 guage its self the whole way. make sure to fuse this wire before the switch

so how you have it 4 gauge to swtich then 8 gauge from there. you could do that if you wish its not going ot hurt but i would fuse it for the 8 guage wire not the 4 guage rating.

Default RE: question about ohsoquik's battery relocation sticky

ok so i did understand it. good. i will hook it up using a starter switch. it would be useless for me to try and extend the existing wire because somewhere along the way it doesnt work. ive tried trace down everything that could be wrong and nothing will work so i just put a starter button inside the car.

what size fuse would you recomend for the 8 guage going from switch to front solenoid?

well i have everything except the master switch,0 guage wire, and battery box. i ended up with an extra solenoid because i replaced mine when i thought it was bad. and ive got alot of wire laying around, just no 0 guage. i guess this will be a project ill do when i swap out my fuel pump.

thanks for help

i think im going to try a 50 or 60 for my front feed wire fuse. if it pops then ill step up a little higher. better to blow a fuse then fry things

yea i got lucky and got some 2/0 welding cable for my install. im gladd i didnt have to pay for that wire

this is the last time i ask about this, i promise. i didnt think about it before, im outside trying to figure out what some of the butchered wire is supposed to be and then something dawned on me. on the alt there are 3 wires. which one to i splice into for the 4 guage? and do i need to remove any of the 3 wires?

it seems to me that if i didnt remove the wire that goes from the front solenoid to the alt, then when the switch was flipped in the back the car would still run since its getting power from the alt.

do you think 2 guage would be big enough to replace the 0? i have about 15 ft of that.

you could use 2 guage. now for that ALT wiring its for a 3g or a powermaster one. if you dont have one of these you dont need the alt wire but then you will be killing the alternator cause its hooked up to the front solenoid. i would upgrade the alt if i was you. stock ones only produce 70 amps which isnt really enough for these cars plus with the distance it now has to travel. thats why the larger wire is needed. 4 gauge for the battery
