Default Freaky Tach

I have a 95GT with a wacky tach. When driveing around the tach jumps all over the place and somtimes just sits at 0. I'm pretty sure the car has some electrical problem because pressing the break's or turning on the headlights causes it to jump up and work for a bit before going back to flipping around. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah it's the stock tach. I was told it gets it's readings off of the negative side of the blaster coil or something. The wire in that harass won't be traced that easily. I guess I could use a standard wire toner.

tach in the dash may also be bad...don't overlook the obvious sometimes..that's to say all connections are good and intact as well as wiring

Yeah but this week i'm getting rim's and tires. So it'll have to wait thanks for all the suggestions. by the way, you refered me to champion fiberglass hoods i believe. They were the cheapest i've found for a Cobra R hood that uses the OEM latch. 370 delivered.
