one thing about it though is third, fourth and reverse all use the same slider assembly

see thats the thing i have absolutely no problems with 1,2 or 5

and i tried holding the clutch waiting then going in reverse and it wont go in.. it doesnt even grind it just wont let me in

I had a brain fart dude, 1st and 2nd are on the same assembly as reverse, not 3rd and 4th.

also reverse gear is not syncronized so, the hundred dollar route is most likely out of the question if something is wrong with reverse

sorry for the mis info the 3rd, 4th gear and reserse gear assmebly

if you can tear it apart, there are people on here that can help you with it and identify problems

One thing that probably won't work but, is worth a shot is putting the transmission in 2nd before reverse. Since they do use the same slider and all.

If it does get expensive, you can always get a used one.

I took it to a tranny specialist and he looked at it last night.. told me i need new syncros and new 3rd gear... but then y wont reverse work? like trimdrip said there are no syncros..

It uses the syncro for second gear I believe. (I am no specialist but, have took one apart before)

ahh ok i gotcha, well ill let you guys know price and outcome as soon as its done... hopefully not too much, if so i may just get a rebuild or a refurbished t-5 what do you think?
