My toyota pick-up runs cooler with the failsafe thermostat stuck open. Doesn't mean it applies to your vehicle. If it had a brand new 500 dollar radiator, it would probably stay cool all the time with no thermostat or with a thermostat like mine stuck open.

silicone is fine, or get a gasket. just make sure to clean well.

How do you know it's overheating. What temp does it run at. maybe the cap is bad and letting coolant by-pass. And since you have no catch can, it leaks on the ground.

it barely gets over the first two lines 130 or so and it doesn't really boil over it just rushes out.. its a brand new radiator cap.. no more than 50 miles on it.. and i put the stat housing back on without a new gasket b/c it looked pretty good still but i ended up taking it all back off and using the rtv sealant... Its suppose to be an easy job. but if yoiu guys have a vortech supercharger then the mounting brackets are like half an inch infront of the stat housing and pretty cramped right there.. And i have yet to start the car back up b.c the sealant said to wait 24 hours to fully cure.. and GOD knows I don't wanna take that thing off YET AGAIN.. Oh and wen I had the stat housing off which is new to, i got it wen i got the radiator cap. it has like white little bubbles or something in it.. looks nasty or something you would see like on a coral reef or something. ?? any ideas what that could be?? maybe I just need to flush my whole coolant?

130?? it's not running hot...where is coolant rushing out?? the little nipple on the radiator neck where the overflow tube should be connected??
