Well I got a stock radiator, electric fan and no thermostat. I don't have a resovior the little hose that was on it is just facing down to the ground.. Would my resovior help it retain the water or what im not really sure what to do or why its overheating like this..

 

Nobod had any opinion on this?

 

Did this just start happening? Without the stat, you shouldn't be over heating. To go out on a limb, if this just started without doing anything to it, I would say you have a blown head gasket,

 

what color is the water?

 

lol the water is dirty/brown... and im not sure if it started doin it all a sudden or not.. like all will be fine and all a sudden it will just start pooring out.. so maybe I should pull the heads off then..?

 

first you need a t-stat in, what often will happen if it's not in the water will circulate through radiator to fast and not remove the heat from the liquid

 

Alright I will put the stat back in and run it for awhile just to see.. Whats the resivour do?

 

Exactly what mjr said. Running without a t-stat is the single most stupid thing you can do to a car. It lets the water circulate too fast through the radiator and that doesn't give it enough time to have any heat removed. Put a 180* t-stat back in and see what it does after that... then go from there.

 

as a liquid is heated it expands and pressure is raised in the sealed system and once it reaches 13-16 psi depending on the radiator cap rating it'll pop the relief valve and let excess coolant travel via the tube to the resevoir, as the motor cools off when it is sitting a vaccum is created in the system and the liquid contracts and is drawn back into the radiator thus maintaining the proper level of the system

 

that brown color is rust. It will clog up your radiator and heater core.
