with a 5 speed car 355s are better unless you use it just for racing and then go with the 373s.

ohssquik02... I do NOT have the correct speedo or tire diamater on my car. BUT, I did use my GPS to show me how fast Iwas going. The GPS shows 70mph @ 2650 rpm's. This is the same GPS that Itrust to show meexactly where the runway is when I am comingin on a night flight. And the GPS is more accurate than any speedometer on any car ever built. </P><edited><editID>jhogan2424</editID><editDate>37943.5812384259</editDate></edited>

well if you do have the smaller tires on your car that is the reason your spinning alot faster. your speed can be right. like if i put my et streets on my truck my speedo would be way off. i might even gain some from it but i would end up topping out before the end of the 1/4 mile. correct tire size is the key when doing speedo gear swaps with gears.

Since my 91 has 4.10's I have to stick up for them here. With the AOD 4th gear the highway stuff is really no big deal. Yeah if you cruise at 80/90mph you will be buzzing the motor a bit. But I drive mainly around town, stoplight to stoplight. Most street races end by 50/60mph(unless you want to lose your license). For that the 4.10's are king. More gear reduction, more acceleration. The only problem I have with 4.10 is having enough gear in the quarter when you're pulling 115mph+. 6250 comes up fast in 3rd gear with 4.10.

you can hit 115 in third. damm i was only able to muster 102 out of it running 245/50/16s maybe now that i have my 26x10.5 etstreets maybe a little more speed since the tires are alittle taller.

I've installed 28X10.5 M/T Sportsman Pro tires to bring the RPM's down. Ideally you want your trap RPM a few hundred RPM beyond your HP peak. That will maximize your ET. With 245/50/16's on my car I was spinning the motor well past where I was making peak power. As your HP rises you either need a higher peak RPM or lower numeric gears. Every tenth helps.
