Default EFI swap?

Well ive started working on my mustang again; my goal being a nice streetable car that is comfortable to drive daily but still have some power behind it when i want to have fun. Im currently working on an AOD swap (well dads working on it i just sit over here in afghanistan ordering parts). The 3 speed auto and 4.10's made it fun to drive around town but a pain on the highway, the overdrive should make that much more comfortable. I have also swaped out the big & littles for a set of 2003 cobras with 255's all around and it has been lowered 1.5 in the front and 1.2 in the back. Upper and lower control arms are on the way along with front and rear sway bars. So that all should help with a better handling and more comfortable cruise.

Now id really like to ditch the carburated setup for an EFI system. I just want to be able to walk out to my car regardless of the weather and turn the key and have it start right up. What all is required for the swap? Would my best bet to be find someone wanting to swap for carb and buy all of the stuff he takes off?

As far as power goes i was planning on going the simple route and buying the Trickflow top end kit, rebuilding the engine that is currently in it and then installing the kit. That shouldnt be a problem on the 86GT engine that is in there should it?

Thanks for any help

i just got done with the efi swap and i ran into some snags being that my car used to be a 4 cyl but what the hell its pretty much plug and play your gonna need from the computer to the engine wire harness and depending on the year you take the efi out of i would say the dash harness also honestly if your on tour for more then six more months i would just buy the painless wiring and go from there good luck and god bless i thank you for what you do i to have served

If it is a stock 86 block I would find a different one. It has flat top pistons in it which can cause some unwanted results with bigger cams. I would just buy a rusted EFI car and swap it that way if I were you.

Oo just wanted to let you know

First, thanks for fighting for our country and be safe.

I agree with projectresto, buy a rust bucket and just remove the efi system. Soak the injectors, check the harness for any stripping, spray everything else down with carb cleaner and start moving it over.
