Lacking power
Hey All, I have a 1984 Mustang GT that is a 5 speed. Lately when I punch it the car seems to rev up and then will go. It seems to happen the most in 2nd and 3rd. It shifts smoothly so I don't think that is the problem. I am not very mechanically inclined so I don't really know. Any ideas? Thank you.

my car had a clutch installed 2 months before I bought it. Even had the receipt. 4000 miles later, it needs a clutch. It has 106k on it.
You could check and see if something is leaking on it.

I dont know about your year but i know later fox bodys you lift up on the clutch pedal than press it back in, the only time a incorrectly adjusted clutch would slip is when the cable is stretched out severely, but you would probably feel it when shifting, it would be harder to put into gear, your clutch is probably going south
