I bought this mustang around January and during that time it was having a little problems with the tranny literally popping out of second gear as soon as I would slip the clutch out. Well it's gotten worse. Now when I put it into second, it grinds really bad. I'm not familier with trannies but I was under the impression that when a syncro went out you it would grind when the clutch was pushed in and trying to go into that gear? But what mine does is it goes into second with the clutched pushed in, then when you slip the clutch out it grinds. Is that the syncro gone or is there more to it? Thanks.

 

sounds like the syncro and slider is bad

 

could be a worn gear.If the edge of the gear gets worn it will cause the shifter to pop out of gear.Most likely from the sycro being bad it wore the gear out from it grinding the edge of the gear during shifting
