Default possible valve float??

I recently installed crane 1.7 energizer rocker arms and new crane valve springs. got the car running good and took it to the track last friday. it ran good 14.3 @96 mph. Well the other day i was messing around with a mach 1 and we droped and when i droped into 3rd the car back fired really bad so i just let off. then i heard a ticking noise. the noise turned out to be a header gasket that i just replaced. but now it seems like my car doesnt pull as hard as it was when i first got everything installed. seems like at 4800 it just falls off. yes i know on a stock 5.0 cam thats usaully where it falls off hard. but when i was running at the track it was pulling all the way up to 5200 at least. i do hear a ticking noise that has gotten louder than when i first had everything on the first night. im just wondering if i could be getting valve float or if that back fired had something to do with it or was it just random. thanks for any suggestions. oh and when i did the springs i got each cylinder to TDC the best i could.

well I would check to see if you bent a push rod and readjust the valves, also recheck timing

i dont know i got them at a speed shop and the guy set me up with the springs to match the rocker arms. all i know is i spent like 140 bucks for crane springs. and got riped off for the price. i doubt any valves are damaged. car stil runs fine i just think im getting valve float at high rpms.

i did the best i could to set each cylinder to TDC when i installed the springs and rocker arms. my question is could something have gotten messed up. how often do you need to readjust your valves?

when you put the new springs on, did you leave on those stock washers under the springs?
I am redoing my heads and would like to know.
