Default Got somethin weird goin on with my 87 GT

i just bought my 87 GT convert(5-speed). it drove fine the first thirty or forty miles around the city i bought it. i then drove it about 150 miles back home but stopped regularly and kept it to a nice slow place. once i got off the interstate and back home. i noticed a hard grinding sound in the rear end, its really noticable in 1rst, 2nd, and 3rd. hardly at all in 4th, then when i shift to 5th, i heard a hard dropping or popping sound out of the rear and its really shaky when you drive it in 5th. it is also gettin harder to get it into each gear. im thinkin the differential is completely dry, or bearings are wore or somethin. anybody got any insight to give me about what to check out?

If it's hard to shift, I would think it's the tranny fluid that needs to be checked!!

As for the rearend, you might check to make sure the pinion nut didn't come loose.
