Question Timing cover replacement

This is probably a dumb question, but I cannot remember. Do I need to drop the oil pan to remove my timing chain cover?
Have a broken pump bolt I need to get out, and going to replace the gears/chain wile I am there.
Thanks in advance.

you do however need to take the bolts out from the pan to timing cover.
