A/F gauges are useless....wideband is where it's at.........but you'll need to tap and install an o2 bung in your h-pipe close to o/2's

+1, its wideband or nothing. the next question is, why do you need one? if you dont have some sort of tuning equipment, knowing your afr wont help you much.

the installation of a wideband requires you to drill the exhaust and then weld an o2 bung over the hole

Here is a link to an off-road pipe with the bung already installed if you are looking to get one.

I run an EGT in my car,the probe gies right into the header. Its pretty slick and helps with tuning the carb, dunno if it would be the same for efi. These guys may be able to tell you more on that, but I have heard if ur going to use air/fuel ratio wideband is the only way.

i've got an aem wideband, cheapest one i've found and is a great piece. a lot of people run and recommend them including myself. costs about 200 for everything, install is same as other gauges except for the whole welding the bung on the hpipe thing. If you can't weld take the car to a muffler shop, the gauge comes with a bung, tell them to drill a hole in the pipe and weld that on. then take it home with the exhaust leak and hook it all up.

So, i have a stupid question and i apologise. How come you can not just splice into the existing o2 wiring?

Thanks

You can for a narrow band gauge. For a wide band, it has it's own dedicated o2 sensor
