is the float level set properly?? fp set accordingly??

1988TTOP 12-30-2009 09:28 PM

i dont know who to set the float level on a ederbrock carb fp is a 5 psi

mjr46 12-30-2009 09:45 PM

you have to remove the top of the carb to set the level, anyway I doubt that is the issue, make sure fuel volume is adequate

1988TTOP 12-30-2009 09:48 PM

ok will do

1988TTOP 12-31-2009 02:42 PM

ok i got it to run right but when i shut it off it wouldnt start again i slowly cranks like the battery is dead i check the battery it has 13 volts and did a load test on it and it passed i check all the grounds and and connections

mjr46 12-31-2009 03:06 PM

if it cranks slow and battery passed a load test, then you have voltage drop occuring somewhere, using a dvom, you need to check for voltage drop at every load transition point/ connection, right down to the starter itself, the case on the start grounds against the bellhousing

1988TTOP 12-31-2009 03:11 PM

ok i have no idea how to do that thanks mjr

this car pisses me off i am bout to sell the damn thing it will start when its on the battery charger

mjr46 12-31-2009 08:09 PM

that's because electrical systems in a car to function properly, they need 12.6 v and or above, below that and funky stuff happens, you need to find the bad connection or the voltage drop point in the system. google voltage drop tests
