Default fast idle

Hello every one. I need help. I have a 91 LX with a 5.0 I redone the heads and put in a E-303 cam,and gt40 intake,70mm throttle body,24 lbs injecters,75mm pro-m mass air.I have a hypertech chip in the ECC. The problem is that it idols fine 950 rpm,but after about 20 miles the idol goes up to 1500 rpm.If I shut it off and restart it's fine for the next 20 miles ,then it goes up again.PLEASE help.

first thing i would check in this situation, since you stated the problem goes away simply by restarting the engine, would be the BAP sensor, which measures elevation levels to adjust fuel curves.

running codes is generally the first step here, but sensors like this can still be bad without throwing a code.

use this image in coordination with http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ai...ure-d_462.html to figure out if your BAP sensor is giving correct readings. Do it while the car is cold and acting right, and do it when the car is idling high, and compare the readings.

The sensor is located on your firewall, to the left of the wiper motor. It's a square box about the size of a PDA cellphone, with a wiring connector and an open air port on the bottom.

Thanks for the info.I replaced the BAP sensor.IT seems ok , I can't tell for sure untill the weather gets a little warmer here in Penna. THANK YOU AGAIN
