Seph,

If u are having trouble with it then it doesn't sound as if it is working perfectly as u say it is. Just a thought.. I have seen where someone forgot the dowel pins in the flywheel for the pressure plate and it made it slightly off balance and made it shake in higher RPMS.

To the original OP.. Just curious.. Does it shake like that even when in neutral sitting still and u rev it to 3k-4500rpms or have u even tried it like that?? Also when in neutral and sitting still try pushing in the clutch and revving it and see what she does. If it only shakes when actually driving it then I would guess Transmission back but if it does it standing still with the clutch in when revving I would like before the transmission.. I am no pro but I have had my fair share of vibration problems. Hope some of this helped.

ok so i think i may have found my problem, but i need to know whats happening and how to fix it. i got under my car the other day to check the ujoints and they were in surprisingly good shape with no play, however my driveshaft was moving! right at the end of the transmission where the driveshaft connects has place, and some fluid is leaking. i belive this is the yoke that then conencts to the driveshaft with the ujoint, so is that what is causing this? when i bought the car the PO told me he had accidentally pinched the seal when doing a fluid check and putting the driveshaft back in and i honestly just hadnt gotten to it yet. could this mean the yoke or whatver is fully seated or something and is causing play? i can move it all around up down side to side anything so how do i go about fixing this, i feel like it is my problem.

i included a picture of what i believe is the yoke. this isnt from my car jjust an image i grabbed off google. this is the piece that comes out of the the tranny and then obviously goes to the driveshaft, and where the play is. NOT in the ujoint

tail shaft bushing....

it is what the driveshaft rides on when its connected to the trans. It is basically the driveshafts bearing you could say.

some play is normal as long as it's not excessive

So mjr are you thinking this isn't my problem? And what seal would it be that he pinched btw?

hard to tell, these types of probs warrant a personal test drive IMO as a tech in order to render a professional diagnosis, noises and vibrations are the hardest thing to diagnose over the internet and be spot on without hands on tactics.......but the seal would be the tailshaft seal to replace if leaking, and if the bushing play worries you or you feel it may be contributing to the prob, the tailshafy housing will need to be removed from the tranny to replace it, kind of a pain to do it with the tranny in the car but totally possible

If it was the tailshaft bushing, it would vibrate at higher RPM's as well. I would rule that out.

I would be willing to bet it is related to your flywheel. Have you checked to make sure all the bolts on your shifter arm assembly are tight? Drive the car without the shift boot and see if the actual rattle is from the shifter assembly itself.
