Help with engine identification
I just bought a ford 5.0 from a guy on Craigslist. He said he pulled the engine out of his F-150. I got it for $50 with the upper and lower intake, fuel rail, distributor, fuel wiring harness and all of the bolt ons to it. Not bad, but when I got it home in the daylight I noticed a paper tag on it with a wire tie. It said Loveland Auto Salvage and had a small description that it was a 5.0. I think I got screwed, don't care though, $50, as long as the block is good. Finally, my question is, how do I identify what it actually came out of and what year it is so I know how to by the right parts for it? It does have a roller cam and lifters, I can see them because the intake is off. It does not have any casting numbers by the starter though. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The only numbers I see by the starter are 4B26 I even turned the engine upside down to check. The guy told me it came out of a 95 F150. I checked the head number, don't know if it the right number, and found E7TE on it. I think that is a truck head. I tried to Google 4B26 but didn't come up with much. The timing cover number is RF-E7TE-6059-BA. The only thing I found for that was it is a reverse flow but not what years they were made.

Thanks guys, I looked at the link that MJR46 posted and the casting is definitely not there. There is no grease on the block that the numbers could be hiding from. The only number by the start was on the flange that sits next to the tranny bell housing, that was the 4B26.
AdderMK2, that sounds about right. I had an 89 Bronco that had the same intake on it that this one does. Just curious so I can help myself, where did you find that info so I know next time. I knew this was a newer motor than a late 60's or 70's block that why asked in the forum and not the classic one.
