Default Engine broke today; dizzy or oil pump.

On the way home the 5.0 died on me. it make one click and that was it. I looked under the hood and seen my TFI module was facing me. I tried to turn it back but couldnt. it was locked up (even when out of the car). It sheared a few teeth off the dizzy gear but the cam seems okay.

Ive got the dizzy partially apart. I cant get the under plate where the hole effect rotor bolts to. I cant get the shaft to go up or down either.

Any ideas? BTW its an accel billettech dizzy.

I want to check it before I drop the pan, to get the pieces and check the oil pump, to find out if I need a new dizzy or not (since they are $270!!).

Yeah I plan to do that once I drop the pan. I just didnt want to get into that today.

Car broke a mile form the house again (1st time was clutch cable). and by the time I got home from work I was tired.

Okay I got the dizzy apart. The upper needle bearing is messed up. I put the shaft back into the motor to turn the oil pump and it turns but its pretty stiff. It also has some recoil to it. I can hear oil failing back down into the pan though. How much resistance should the oil pump have?

It shouldn't have any recoil I don't think. I would replace the oil pump as well....

Kinda what I was thinking. Ive got to drop the pan. I drained the oil hoping to find the gear pieces but I only found 2/3 of the 4 teeth that are gone. If I'm going through all the trouble to drop the pan out then I might as well spend the extra few bucks and have the piece of mind.
