Default Idle issues?

I got a 88 gt convertible. It sometimes drops rpms down to 500 when idling and then will pick it back up. sometimes it will drop so low that it dies. help please.

My 90 was doing this and the element in the MAF needed cleaning. Sprayed with brake cleaner and problem solved. Not sure though if the 88 is MAF or not.

Unless its a california car it's speed density, and nothing's wrong with that. To me it sounds like your Idle air control is going bad, and also it could be with the throttle position sensor. Take your idle air off and clean it, it's two bolts, spray into the little holes with carp cleaner then put a little wd 40 in it to lubricate and see if that helps.
