Default Help on oil level question

I checked my oil prior to my oil change and when I drained it it seemed it was really low after drain. And when I added the oil and let it sit, I checked my dip stick and the stick showed it had double the oil in it, how is this possible when I drained it and now shows way full. I don't want it to over pressurize the engine.

you only did the front drain plug. there's 2. the rear sump holds much more oil.

May be it's the way you check it.

I check on a warm engine that's been off for a few minutes.
Wipe stick, reinsert and pull it out for a look.

if you actually bothered to THINK about it. the subframe runs directly through the oil pan location, splitting it in half. the only way to get ALL of the oil out, is to pull both plugs.

that little thing called gravity... it keeps the oil from going OVER the hump for the subframe, and draining out the other drainplug

*facepalm*

No such thing as gravity. The Earth sucks.
