Default Engine tear down and cleaning Need advice

Well right now i'm helping my girlfriend take out her engine and trans. We have them both out and on stands. ATM we have the engine torn apart down to the pistons. My question is should i get cams for her engine since she wants a lot of power. Its 94 GT has Borla Exhaust and BBK Shorties CAI, we have ordered gasket kits because we are replacing all gaskets spark plugs Cap and rotor and cables, injectors. Also what would i need to do if i did put a cam in her engine upgrade anything? We are also rebuilding the trans with a shift kit in it (automatic trans). As far as anything else it should be stock as far as gears and stuff nothing really done to the engine its self. Any advice would be much appreciated. Also if i missed anything or you need more info to help just let me know.

you could also do the cam now and the heads intake later, it'll make it easier since the engine is out

When you say new lifters and springs like aftermarket or new OEM. I dont know a whole lot about doing stuff to an engine but like i said since its apart i figured i would do something that would actually give it some power. Also what would i replace the intake and heads with any suggestions?

New timing chain as well as a new oil pump with a new ARP shaft would be easy to just now while the engine is out of the car.
BTW, get down to Checker auto or somewhere and buy the manual for the car, it's money very well spent it would seem in your case......
