Default Running Hot

Engine still is running hot. Got a griffin aluminum rad, Black magic fan, and a 180 therm. Any ideas. It is the stock gauge but its always at least half way up (200) and sometime shows 3/4's up (235). I know the stock gauges arent the best but still seems high. Thats in 85-95 degree weather.

I would try to hook up an aftermarket gauge and see what it says.

What is troubling you is not an issue. Install aftermarket mechanical gauge. Adder has a point.

3/4 gauge if in a fox is running hot, a properly functioning cooling system in a foxbody won't run at 3/4 gauge expecially with a 180 stat, I have such in all 3 my stangs and never do they reach 3/4 gauge so YES YOU have a issue despite what being told. first, when does it start to run hot, sitting still/stop and go city driving or highway/all the time??

Just when in stop and go light to light on hot days. If i am cruising or on the freeway its about half way up. I think i need to get some aftermarket gauges for some accuracy but still something seems up. Now electrical or mechanical? But I don't want to start up that can of worms.

your car is almost 20 years old, you dont think there is a slight chance the stock gauge isnt working correctly any more? fwiw, when my autometer reads 190*, my stock gauge reads almost red line. and i know my sending unit for the stock gauge is good because the stock sender feeds my pms and the pms reads the same as the autometer at all times. so obviously the gauge is bad and my car is only a year older then yours

If it's rock steady on the highway. I think you can safely rule out the radiator.

So when it's way up on the gauge. Is the fan running at this moment?
If it is, what's going on with the temp? Is it going higher with the fan running or is it pulling it down and turning off.

The other guys are right on about the stock gauges. I have been researching alot thru-out several forums and most that I have found is BAD GROUNDING. Found the same issue with mine (engine to frame and battery). I went crazy on mine today and reworked every ground and every connection. Checked the resistance from a common ground on the frame because my battery is in the trunk. Fixed my gauge issues. Still worrking on the low speed fan though.
