Default Car Lurches Foward and back

Sometimes when starting from a stop the car starts this violent/uncontrollable lurch foward then back (not actually backwards). It continues to escalate as your foot hits the peddle and then comes off because of the lurching. Sometimes this will continue into 2nd gear. The car has a 373 rearend and has been converted to a 5 speed. If you drag out the clutch release the car is fine but if you let it out a little to fast you end up going for a wild ride. It seems like some one is really fast mashing the throttle, then off, then on, then off, then on, then off, get the picture.

I don't want to sound like a dick, but it could just be the way your clutch is, is it a stage 2 or 3, those up stage clutches tend to have an on/off pedal feel

If it's lurching because the car is throwing your body weight rearward and pulling your foot off the throttle pedal. Try pivoting foot with your heel on the carpet. My wife used to do this when she first starting driving the Mustang.

Sometimes this happens to me too in traffic. When I'm forced to drive at a constant speed just above idle in 1st or 2nd gear. This is something inherit about these cars. A combination of the engines output, weight of the flywheel, clutch disc springs, backlash, rear suspension design?? Not sure but not all cars to this?

Also 3.73's will amplify this problem. I just switched from 3.73's to 3.27's not that constant speed bucking in slow traffic is only pronouned in 1st. Before it was 1st and 2nd.

Default Clutch

Glad to hear that others have had a similar problem. This typically occurs like you said, after the clutch is already out and you crusing in 1st.

I have been driving different manuals for the last 20 years and have never had a car do that. It is a Spec clutch but it is only a Spec 1. I have figured out how to keep it in control when it starts to buck. I recently have been trying to sell the car, and the people test driving it keep asking me why it does that. I don't have an explanation.
