Push Rod Question
Hello!
I finally started putting my motor together after 4 years. It seems that my stock pushrods maybe too long? I have TFS Stage 2 Cam .542/.563 with 1.7 Rockers. I am at the point where I have my long block in the car and I was putting my push rods in the motor, but I cannot button down a of my couple roller rockers because of the length of the pushrod. Has anyone experienced? Do I need to go with a shorter pushrod? If so, thoughts on what size? This is my second rebuild and my previous was with a stock cam, so this is new to me. Thanks!

When you set the lash, where is the roller sitting on the valve stem? It should be just a little bit off center, away from the push rod. If that's the case, then the push rods are pretty close to being the right length. But the rocker studs are too short. ARP makes two differant lengths.
If it's directly in the center, or off set towards the push rod, then the push rods are too long.
There is no substitute for a push rod checker and a light valve spring. No matter what else is wrong, you certainly need to perform this step.
