voltage problem
I installed underdrive pulleys around a two weeks ago and hadn't had any problems with accessories but then driving it today the voltmeter (or whatever its called) would jump and the radio would shut off for a second and the car would try to die before it revved itself back up, this happened multiple times and is the first times its ever done this, the radio would turn right back on automatically afterwards, its not a big sound system just a plain radio from best buy which i had in the car for a long time now. It mainly would occur when i was stopped/stopping/or when putting the car into neutral, any ideas on what this could be? could it be caused by the underdrive pulleys? I am completely lost
you could go to your local advance auto parts and they can do a load test on your electrical system with the fancy little machine they have, so you don't have to immediatly remove the pulley system. Not saying adder is wrong, you'll probably end up removing them any way, this is just something you can do before that to give you an idea of what could be wrong.

I took it to a local repair shop i trust and they checked everything out for free, they are saying its because of the underdrive pulleys as well, so i went ahead and ordered a 130 amp alternator from american muscle so im hoping that will fix it
Crap my internet was out and i already put the new alt on the car...the problem got a little better and wont try to die on me but still not ideal voltage, i'm thinking of bumping the timing to 14? With it driving how it is now i can keep the underdrives on for now at least, of course the one time my internet goes out is the one time i actually need it
I doubt underdrives can cause these problems. It's usually a drop in voltage during the few seconds of idling. Big freaking deal.
I have this same set up on a 93 with a low amp alternator. Slight drop at idle and a major drop at idle with accessories on. Electric fan and heater/ac fan is the worst. Fact is this has never caused me a problem and I daily drive this car. Also rarely does my car see this scenario. 95% of the time. I'm above idle, driving it. 11 volts with the engine running is not ideal but not having full charge voltage is WAY OVERRATED.
If it wasn't for the voltmeter. I garanteed, I wouldn't have even noticed.
May you damaged the alternator or wiring swapping pullies. Is the battery in good condition?
