i got an 88 gt with about 180k on it... i have had a trick flow intake, and 1 inch spacer, and 70mm throttle body put on it for a month or 2 now, and now it does not sound too good.... as soon as you start it, you can hear this rattling noise, and then it goes away.. but once you bring the rpms to about 2500, you can clearly hear it rattling from the inside of the motor.. does not sound like a valve tap parsay.. but i am open for any suggestions.....

also i took the heads off, looked for anything wrong.. couldnt find anything, put it back together, and no difference... i did notice that the rocker arms are labed with A B C D etc... but they were not in no special order when i took them off

does motor seem to be down on power? is it like a knock? if so the bottom end is in need of fixing. without more desription i say its time to look for a new bottom end. and that intake and tb were to large to be on teh car at this point

yea bottom end goin out i would think as well.... what does it sound like when your main bearings are going out?... the car does not seem down on power.. seems like normal, and runs basicly normal

you would have shavings in the oil and filter along in other places. the motor would have a knock or a rapping

tick=lifting
tap=valve
knock=rod bearing
rap=crankbearing
a flutter=cam bearings

these are just rules of thumbs for ideas but usually if it sounds like those then its one of them

also would like to throw in, sometimes i hear a high pitch whistle comming from the center of the intake.. but does not always do it
