Default A few questions

I have a few questions about my 95
How are you supposed to tell what oil filter it needs the parts store says there are 2 kinds
I have been loosing some coolant. The car has dropped to the cold line when it is hot. I have noticed nothing on the ground. no smoke of funny smells etc. Anyone know what i should look into?
Would someone be able to give me the basics on changing a balancer? Thanks

ph8a is the fram number for the oil filter

not sure where to start on the coolant, if it isnt obvious it shouldnt be leaking that bad to make a diff i would guess.... maybe so though

the balancer is pretty easy, you need a special tool though. borrow it from autozone or whoever loans tools near you, instructions are in it

Yeah I have heard too many bad things about Fram to buy one. I wont even put one on my beater. The reason I was asking about the filter was because they were showing 2 different types at the parts store one tall and one shorter.

Should the bolt holding the balancer on come off with just having the car in gear or is there some secret? And what is the torque for putting the new one on? Also how tight should the crank pulley bolts be on?

Also I just topped up the coolant and it didn't take as much as it looked like so I'll see how that goes and keep an eye on it.

Crank bolt is 70-90ft lbs
Not sure about the crank pulley bolts. I just tighten them as much as I can till the motor turns over. You should be able to break the dampener bolt loose if its in gear. I always use air tools though.

Fl-1A Or FL-300(shorter for clearance with oil cooler) Crankshaft to vibration dampner bolts 20-26 ft lbs. Dampner bolt is 103-132 ft lbs. 79-93 use the 70-90 ft lbs. Use pressure tester and look very close on loss of coolant. Use dampner puller. Crankshaft bolt will be difficult to loosen without air tools. Another person with flywheel wrench.

So the 95 damper requires more torque? Also I don't think i have an oil cooler how could i tell? And a Mobil 1 filter is what i ended up with actually and valvoline full synthetic.

Friend put a Fram on a BBC turning 7500rpm (dragster rail). Broke crank and destroyed block valves, pan and about all else. Machinst engine builder told him fram filter does not work on that type configuration. Might use one for start up and throw away in 30 minutes. That's all I have used fram for and ony once at that. Motorcraft on my stuff
