Default power windows

ok, so it started out a job to replace the power door lock on the drivers side door. i got the new actuators off of ebay and was going to put it in. then i found out that it wasnt a bad actuator, there just wasnt one in there, no mounting bracket either. so since that was about all i could do i started oiling the metal to metal surfaces of the power window tracks when i realized that my drivers window is pretty much degraded. it works but it doesnt work so to say. i can get it to go down, then up, down then it freezes and wont move for like 5 minutes. then it will do it all over again. i dont know what all electrical is involved with this system, but there seems to be some sort of relay box. is there by chance some sort of battery or capacitor inside that that the motor gets its power from. and that its just that im running it dead and it has to charge back up? i know it might seem like a really stupid question/idea. but when it works it works great. nice and smooth. but its just ticking me off and i fear the motor may be going bad. any input would be helpful.

the motor very well could be going bad. I see a lot of pwer window motors that will get hot and need to cool down before working again. I see it happen on GM's too. You can test the wires at the motor to make sure you have voltage. If it gets voltage when you push your button and the motor isn't moving, then it's your motor. If you don't get voltage all the time, then you have a short or a relay or switch problem. Make sure there is nothing restricting the the window from going up and down. That will cause stress on the motor as well and make it heat up. It could be the switches too. I had to replace my swithes not too long ago when I had the same problem and it was the switches. It got voltage before the switch, but not after, so the motor wasn't getting the voltage it needed. Good luck. I hope this helps

yeah the motor is getting too hot and seizing up, much like a starter and heat soak in a way, replace it and the problem will be gone, if it were a restriction it wouldnt go up and down the first couple times. it could be the switches but i doubt it. if the window goes up then down then starts to slow down and stop its the motor.
