Default Air Pump Turbo??

I didn't buy a air pump delete pulley when building my engine. I reinstalled it but its not hooked up to anything. Any ideas on what would happen if I ran a hose from it to the air box? Also, does anyone know if it is a variable flow pump, or constant? I have not done anything yet, but I was wondering what might happen if I did. Any ideas??

It wouldn't do anything. Just pull it off and run a shorter belt. Its just extra weight and parasitic drag.

Do it, you should see an extra 75 hp at the wheels. You'll have to make sure the clamps on the air tube are really tight because of the extra boost or they'll blow off. You should also have a dyno tune done to increase the fuel curve so you don't run lean at high rpms. And don't forget to retard your timing so you don't have any detonation. Run a little cooler plug and 93 octane gas and make sure your serp belt is in good condition.

Actually, ignore all the above because I'm just messin' with ya'...... smog pumps are NOT superchargers. lol.

I know that it is not a supercharger or a turbo of any sort. I just figured that if it was blowing air when running, that it could possibly be used for something. I was actually thinking about plumbing it into my factory air box just to help feed a little extra cold air into the system. If I do remove it, does anyone have a part number for a shorter belt? I don't want to have to buy several and swap them around to find the right one.

heres a pic, you want the blue routing, I run an 84 inch belt, btw if this crap worked before you took it off you just wasted your time, and if your pump was quit why don't you send it my way. Mines bypassed because it locked up 300 miles from my house and I know parts store replacements are alway's noisy

and let me say it explicitly so you don't get confused tell the parts store guy you need an 84 inch 6 rib belt for a custom pulley setup, and the idea of plumbing you air pump to your box is stupid fundamentally, you're draining power to make no extra power, we are not ricers man

I was just wondering is all. I will see about getting the belt in a day or two and taking the pump off. Still got some sensors and stuff to check out and some adjustments to make anyway. Thanks for the info.

the increased air will cost more HP to create from driving the pump than its benefits the engine. My advice is to get rid of it and save weight off the front of the car.
