Default tfi module relocation

Remote tfi module that i finally got around to do. I used a cb radio linear amplifier heatsink from the 1960's and mounted the module underneath for more efficient cooling, the heatsink is mounted on top of an aluminum box with module screwed on for easy removal. Mounting the heatsink on a horizontal surface is more efficient than on a vertical surface so the heat travels straight up and out of module. I didn't like fords 94 and up heatsinks with the module mounted on top with the cooling fins, how backwards is that when heat rises. I shielded the pip signal wire from module with a bare wire wrapped around the insulated wire, wrapped with aluminum foil, then grounded. All wires and connections are soldered tight and wrapped with rubber tape. I used a simple fuel line clip at the distributor to hold wires together and secured with a wire tie on top to keep the wires from falling out from the distributor connectors. Remotely mounting the tfi module is worth the effort. The tfi module and heatsink now gets warm, instead of blistering hot on the distributor. I would recommend getting a heatsink other than fords idea of a heatsink where you can mount the module underneath for better cooling.

What was the reason for doing that?

On other Ford vehicles the distributor is on the back of the motor so the tfi doesn't get any cool air and fails. It's not really an issue on Mustangs though.

That's why the TFI is not on the dizzy for the sn95 stangs. Got to hot i guess.

Good idea but not really worth the trouble I think. It is a nice custom touch
