I got my car running last night but the valve train was noisy. I pulled the valve covers and 3 out of the 8 pushrods on the driver side had play in them with the valves shut but all the rest was fine. I am running scorpion 1.72 pedestal mount roller rockers, gt 40 heads and a crane compucams 2031 camshaft a standard thickness head gasket. I dont think i need longer push rods because the others was fine.. The pushrods are not bent either. Could it be a lifter issue???

what method did you use to tighten the rockers down ?

if you used the 3 position method... do it again, that wont work.
you need to do each rocker one at a time. tighten just after the opposite valve starts to open.

prime the lifters for each one too, yes it's overkill but it ensures a good preload

you made sure you only had 1/2 to 1 1/4 turn to get to 18 ft lbs right ? and use inch/lbs NOT ft /lbs

ft/lbs isnt very accurate at that low of a torque setting
