and yes, it would be a good idea to replace the TFI as well. Just dont buy one from a local parts store... go to the dealership, get a Motorcraft piece

i had a similar issue and here's what i did before throwing money at any specific part. I bought a fuel pressure gauge and installed it. i ran the car until i could reproduce the same symptom and noticed my fuel pressure drop from ~40psi to about ~5. THEN i replaced my fuel pump and havent had issues since. hope that helps
