Default Need Help Programming Factory 1992 Mustang Keyless Remote

Hello,

I would appreciate instructions on programming the Ford factory keyless remote control for a 1992 Mustang 5.0 LX. I replaced a weak remote battery to find the remote had lost its memory during the quick battery transition period. Our other remote control still works fine, meaning there are no failures in the car itself.

I confirm the new, replacement remote battery works fine. The battery itself showed 12V as specified on a test meter, plus it lights up the remote's bulb well when pushing any of the three buttons on the remote.

An exhaustive search of both the Ford Mustang Owner's Manual as well as the web produced no help.

The closest I could come to assistance are various instructions for later-model Mustangs and other Fords. I tried the later-model instructions several times, however they do not work.

I considered ordering the Ford Mustang Factory Service Manual, however I see multiple manuals exist (including another on electrical). I do not know which manual to order, and truthfully I do not see the need to purchase a 1200 page repair manual if all I wish to do with this particular car is full basic, regular service which I already know how to do.

Can anyone help with programming instructions? Thanks in advance,

The anti theft is on left rear fender inside trunk. Jumper the two prong connection there.Think it is key on and open close locks with FOB.Roll a window down so you will not get locked out in case my memory has faded.

I don't or didn't think fox mustangs came with any factory installed alarms or keyless entry, it must be aftermarket or authorized dealer installed option. I would love to see some pics of this!

As someone who has worked on and driven hundreds of Fox's, I can safely say that keyless entry was not an option on these cars, and any system you have will either be a rare dealer option, or aftermarket.

You won't find much help here. Best bet is to go scouring through the car, try and find the control box and get the brand & numbers off it, and go from there.

I suppose it could be possible that someone wired in the system from an SN95. On those models, the control box is in the left rear of the trunk. I have full wiring diagrams for that, but all programming is done by Ford, or any shop with a powerful scan tool.
