Default Installing 130 amp alt

I'm installing 130 amp alt. on a 1992 GT , how do you check if and how the altenator is charging properly. My application isn't charging, on a meter it reads 12.70,and dropping. What is the correct hookup installing a 130 amp alt? Thanks

well, get rid of that stupid rectangle 3 hole plug on the alt.
I ran some 2 gauge wire from the starter solenoid on the battery side all across the front of the rad then through a 150 amp fuse, then to the bolt on the back of the 3g alt.

thats it for your charging wire. get rid of that old crapy wire ford used.

now for the other plug, cut the stator wire, I am pretty sure its the middle wire and hook it to the small square plug then hook it up then your good to go.

the voltage when running should be between 13.4-14.7
mine was at 14.7 for the first bit and now stays at 14.3.
there is an article at the top of the 5.0 section about 3g alternator.

Thanks, gonna give it a try. In my setup I have 10 gauge wire all around,do you think that could be why I'm getting a 12.70 charge reading? Is that why you use 2 gauge wire? Thanks again.

10 gauge wire will probably get pretty warm, I would change it to at least 4 gauge
dont want to see any mustang get burned to the ground.
