Rack and pinion question

Rack and pinion question
My alignment guy twisted my boots on my new rack and pinion and it ended up pulling the boot off and leaked fluid everywhere. I was able to fix both boots and using a zip tie replace the clamp and get it back together. My question is do I need to add any fluid in the boots or should the pump do that? I am just wondering because my level in my res. didn't seem to drop any after I started the car and let it run a bit.
How can you tell if your pump works or not?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

what he said^^^^^^^^^^^ and I'm amazed some lazy **** ****** was to bum phaking lazy to squeeze the spring clamps on the ends so tie rods could rotate without twisting the boots, and then had the nerve to leave that twisted up mess, I'd scratch that dork off my alignment list

Hmmm, I just replaced the...could it really be bad? When I backed the car out today there was a lot of fuild coming from the passenger side and it looked to be coming from the pass. side rack n pinon. Hmm, that wasn't easy to install either.
