couple of 347 questions...
decided to go 347 and maybe a shot of nitrous down the line, but i wanna focus on makin it flow better. Ive been told that the cobra intake is to restrictive for a 347 engine and that i should go with a trick flow or edlebrock intake. yet not to long ago i remember hearing that if you port and polish the cobra intake, it flows better then any after market intake. so im a bit confused on that. also with a cobra intake and gt40 heads and the other mods i have (in sig i think) what do you think my hp standing could (note that word) be? thank you

lol that must have been the dumbest statement ive ever read in my life..."Ive been told that the cobra intake is to restrictive for a 347 engine and that i should go with a trick flow or edlebrock intake. yet not to long ago i remember hearing that if you port and polish the cobra intake, it flows better then any after market intake. so im a bit confused on that."
u idiot, if u port and polish any intake its gonna out flow any other intake. it would be no different with an rpm II, if u port and polish it, its gonna out flow any other intake. i dont even under stand why you'd make a statement like that. whats there to be confused about. but n e ways, if u already got he intake, then id stay with it and get it extrude honed for more airflow. as for those heads, dont even bother putting them on a 347 cause that will be your bottle neck. get some edelbrock or afr heads and be done with it.what kinda budget u on with this? money goes a long way u know

I think you might have been a little harsh there buddy, the guy asked a simple, honest question. [/quote]
I agree with you 100%. In fact I am also doing a 347 build up and have asked several forums a similar question. Basically what we are asking is will we get good enough results porting the Cobra intake versus buying a new unported intake from any of the aftermarket vendors? The main point is cost. Approximately $100-150 to port the Cobra lower versus $400-$600 for a new intake. And I've been told that a ported Cobra intake can flow 250 cfm's versus 198-200 cfm's stock. Does any unported aftermaket intake make those kind of numbers or close to it? If the ported intake is a good choice than the savings can obviously be spent elsewhere on other mods.

my money situation sucks. i was gonna build a turbo kit but then i realized for what it costs to build a turbo kit myself, i can get myself a nice short block 347, and to fund for that short block im gonna sell my bottom end im building now with the forged pistons and better camshaft. sucks that im gonna be bottlenecking with the gt40s but i dont mind to much, just another mod to save up for. i dont see why you had to be unplesent about it, thank you to who ever delted the post. if i port and polish my stock intake and the heads, that will help just A LITTLE right? not lookin for a way round gettin better heads, just wondering that
