2 you will heat the transmission ears, not the bolts (if you are talking about where it bolts to the transmission itself....... an impact is your best friend for removing things as such... If you are talking about the crossmember bolts then don't use heat because you will end up melting the bushings...
It does not make the noise while it is in neutral or while the clutch is pressed in and Im revving the engine. It happens while I am in higher rpms and slowing down (at least that is when I can hear it best). I know I can hear it while accelrating too just not as much because the exhaust is loud.

As for the crossmember. I don't need to heat that up, nor will I... It will come out easy. I am talking about where it bolts up to the transmission. I will attempt this tomorrow. Getting an impact wrench in there would be tough.
