Carbed 1984 Mustang GT Stalling while driving and sometimes backfires
I have a 1984 carbed mustang GT-350 and it seems to have a problem with stalling lately. It will run smooth as silk down the road, then suddenly it will jerk and stall, sometimes backfire when I restart it, or give it gas to try and prevent the stall. I'm trying to narrow down the problem, and I'm not very experienced with engines. Is it likely it's a clogged fuel line, a dirty carb fuel intake, fuel mix too rich? I don't think it's the coil, the coil is new and the wires are connected snugly to the carb and coil/coil and dizzy. I also don't think it's a timing problem, digital timing light reads perfect. I also replaced the fuel filter that goes between the metal fuel line and the carb. Anyone else ever had this problem or could offer some suggestions where to start?
Double and triple check your timing and firing order. If you can put a fuel pressure gauge were you can see it and drive it down the road and watch it to see if anything happens. Them are the first two things that pop into my head.
