smog pump?
so i just bought a new pony but has the smog pump delete on it...! Is it hard to install back to stock, is it worth it..., and is there any way around that for it to pass smog without? Any info greatly appreciated! Thanks
It's not hard at all to reinstall the smog pump and smog equipment. The smog pump is available at most auto parts stores, the smog equipment on the other hand might not be as easy to find new.
Since you live in Calif.......when the time comes for your license renewal and you need an emissions check you'll have to go through a visual inspection and there isn't a smog technician that won't catch you don't have the smog pump or other smog related equipment.

some of it probably will, but the steel tubes going to the h pipe and heads are probably mustang specific. how did they cap the h pipe ? you may need to do some welding if its a cat less pipe, but hopefully they just removed the tube and capped it off. the back of the heads might be hard to install too depending how they plugged them. if they did it the proper way with thermactor plugs your good to go. if they goobed a bunch of rtv in there and used a bolt???? ....good luck, id rather swap new heads than dig all that out.
well i installed the smog pump and the 2 rubber hoses like the one that goes to the back of heads and the other that goes to hpipe! Luckily the guy just cut the rubber hose and plugged it instead of taking them off the heads which i was like what a relief..! Im sure its not all connected but car runs good and im sure it will pass the visual part of smog!
i can tell you from experience.... when i was gonna smog a car in fresno it MIGHT have passed.
it had long tubes, no cats, no smog pump and was phat as he!! from burned o2 sensors
a buddy popped the sniffer pipe in it and if i can remember the only issue was NOX
but it was only at idle since the program wont really run without a vin put in the computer.
and he said...at load...he thought it would pass. but the HC and CO numbers were decent
thats all that counts really.
