OP, does your steering wheel have some play in it before it feels like its trying to turn? When it "wonders all over the road" is it pulling the steering wheel with it or does the wheel stay where it is and the car just moves on its own?

the leading cause IMO is drunk driving...your issue is probably alignment, sloppy install issue or something similar

steering wheel stays straight pretty much.. it dont like pull to just one side.. rough roads make it a challange to not appear drunk..

Do you know if it's ever been wrecked? Even a little bit of a fender bender could have completely knocked it out alignment. Also, check where the rack goes through the firewall on the interior of the car, mine was missing two little bolts keeping the flange in place so the rack would turn without me turning it as I went down a bumpy road. Just give us a run down of the stang's specs and any mods it might have alot its history and guage readings. More specific you are the easier it is to help

no wreaks i know of. you can hold the steering wheel straight, it will pull to one direction then wonder in the other direction. if you turn the wheel it does seem to respond late.ill check to see about the flange bolts today.

jack up the car, lock the steering wheel and then try to make the wheel turn to the right or left and see how much movement you get....

What you're experiencing is called Roll Steer. The main cause is dead front shocks. In roll steer, one wheel rises as the other falls. Typically this produces "toe in" on one wheel, and "toe out" on the other, thus producing a steering effect.
