Default speedometer issue

I just finished installing a new speed gear inside my transmission and now my speedometer is jumping everywhere. It doesn't stay stable. Any ideas what it could be?

You may not have the cable fully sat inside the gear, im guessing it goes up to an appropriate speed then drops? They can be a pain

Maybe you're having the same problem I am, In town it flicks all over the place at a rapid amount but on the freeway it sits at 140mph
